How do you use a laser power probe to measure a laser cutter's power output?

Laser power meters typically work through a calorimetry process.  It involves placing a known object, usually a chunk of metal, in the path of the laser and allowing it to heat up for a specified period of time.  The rise in temperature of this object will correspond to a specific amount of power.  So a standard power meter will involve both a temperature probe and some object that will be heated, then it will display the temperature change as the corresponding laser output power.
