What's the relationship between DPI and scan gap size?

DPI is dots per inch.  It tells how many pixels or dots are within every inch of an image, which tells us the resolution of the image.  Scan gap is the spacing between lines when scanning to engrave an image.  A scan gap of .1 mm would correspond to a DPI of 254.  This comes from 25.4 mm/in * 1 dot/.1 mm.
